Colton Michael Dickson

Early in the morning at Monday, November 24, 2014 we headed into the hospital to get induced. There were a lot of different reason's for our choosing to induce, but in the end it was what was the best for us. Because of a bum hip that I have, the labor that should have only been about 5 hours turned into 11. However our nurse was amazing and she did a few different tricks to help the little man work around the hip. As soon as we did that, he was born within half an hour. Two contractions later and Colton Michael Dickson was born at 6:02 pm. Colton weighed in at 7lbs 10 oz (almost a pound lighter than his brother) and measured 20 inches long. Perfect and healthy.
Unfortunately the next day while he was having his hearing test done he spit up, and ended up aspirating some of the spit up causing his oxygen levels to freak out for a little bit. It was enough though that the doctors thought it would be best to have him spend the night in the NICU to be monitored. Talk about scary! The whole staff was amazing though, and made the stay really good for us. I walked back and forth that night to feed him, and the next morning they said he could do the car seat test. All he had to do was stay in the car seat for an hour and a half without any issues with his oxygen and we would be able to take him home! He passed with flying colors so we were able to get home around noon on Wednesday.
We were blessed enough for my family to watch Weston through the whole process, so he had a great time while we were gone and didn't suffer in the least. He is loving his little brother, and loves to show Colton all of his different toys and cars. We are settled and happy and ecstatic to have Colton home just in time for Thanksgiving!

*Sledding*

Having a toddler is an amazing thing. Snow is not my favorite. Idaho winter is not my favorite. Cold is not my favorite. But the look on my sons face when he saw it snowing for the first time, that is my favorite. Needless to say the first weekend that we got with snow Weston was up bright and early waking Rob up BEGGING him to build a snowman. Unfortunately the snow was not snowman snow, so we decided to make the best of the situation and go sledding instead. FYI, sledding is really hard being 9 months pregnant and trying to balance a two year old on your lap, just so you know.  He wasn't sure what to think at first, but he quickly decided that he loved it and we had to peel him away from the hill when we decided he was too cold to stay out any longer. We also stopped by my parents to show them Weston's winter gear for just a few minutes.  Unfortunately we didn't take our camera, but I did get a few pics on my phone :)

Oregon Coast Day Trip

Having a dad with a plane definitely has it's perks, like she he randomly calls you up and asks if you want to go to Oregon with him the next morning. Unfortunately the call wasn't for me, I'm like humongously pregnant and wasn't allowed to go, but Rob got to! I was only really jealous, but they all had a blast and I got to see pics... so it is kind of the same right? Unfortunately Rob didn't take the camera out of the plane in Oregon, so there are no pics of the beach, or the hundreds of surfers that were out, but we still have amazing pics of the trip to and from. In total they were gone around 12 hours, not bad for a coast trip :)
