The Newborn Exhaustion Phase

Ooh the newborn exhaustion phase... it is such a love hate relationship. I would love to sleep through the night, sleep in, and not feel exhausted all the time, and yet at the same time I know I will be there all too soon, and will be missing my midnight cuddles with this little man. Things have been going really well around here, we haven't been venturing out much yet, but are enjoying the time home. Besides that, Rob and I are both working, and both back in school. To say it's been crazy around here would be an understatement! But we are all surviving and enjoying!

So these two pictures were taken right after Christmas, so Colton was like 5 weeks old, with total neck control. Apparently our babies are determined to be independent as soon as possible :)

We are definitely taking advantage of the fact that he likes cuddling! I never got to cuddle Weston like this because he hated being held when he slept... this is heavenly :)

New Years Eve- Colton totally just chilled and hung out with us while we had our annual seafood night at my parents. Weston fell asleep at 6pm that night and woke up at like 10:30pm... oops. So he watched the ball drop and everything, then when we got home people were shooting fireworks off at the church right behind us, so we let him stay up for a few minutes and watch. He is obsessed with fireworks!

This is the latest gun that Rob painted. Definitely the most time consuming and intense...but it looks awesome and it was his first "real" paying customer!

This is how we cope after bath time :)

Ooh yeah, and this kid just woke up one day and decided to be potty trained. Seriously. He woke up and said he wanted to wear underwear (which up to this point he was terrified of and would freak out if I tried to put him in them). So we put the underwear on and that's the end of the story! Two weeks later and he's only had one fluke accident... I'd say it's been a success :)

Weston has also decided he doesn't need naps anymore. That means that he then falls asleep randomly on Rob when he is home. Won't do it with me, but if he can cuddle dad then all bets are off! This is one of those rare moments when both boys were asleep at the exact same time during the day... Rob was in bliss.

So that's our catch up for the past few weeks! I'm hoping we'll actually go do something fun soon... but who knows if that will happen with school and it being ridiculously freezing outside. :)
