Bedroom Makeover

So I get the awesome opportunity to start nannying my niece and nephew within the next few weeks. I really am stoked. I'm also starting school up again at the same time. I was thinking about this the other day, and all of a sudden it hit me...I'm really not going to have a lot of free time after all of that starts. If I want to actually get my house painted...I need to do it before then or it will NEVER happen. ...And I had less than 20 days.
And thus is began. The next day I bought paint and got my bedroom done, with the help of the husband :) Now I'm working on the living room-kitchen-dining room...since they're all kind of connected.
Here are the pics of the bedroom
Before pic as I was moving everything out

Entertaining the baby all at the same time

My husbands patience with me is astounding. "hey babe can I paint a wall purple???" "...Sure"

And the after's

Hopefully the windows are slightly less awkward now that the bed is moved...I don't know though...
P.S. Rob loves the purple wall :)

Stay tuned for the rest of the house!

HELP!!

I am desperate for any and all the advise I can get! So now that Weston is FINALLY 100% in his own room I have recently taken the pac'n'play down and moved the rocking chair out of our bedroom. I was BEYOND excited to have our room back again, and then I remembered what was absolutely driving me crazy about that room. You see, we have these super cute windows in one corner of our room, I love them. A lot. They were one of those things that made me fall in love with the house the first time we went through it. Well...turns out they are really had to decorate around. They are adorable, but I feel like there is just so much empty space and I have no idea what to do in front of them! They go down to low to put a bench or something in front of them...I just don't know! I've been wanting to put cute drapes up to take up wall space a little bit, but I still feel like there is just this awkward triangle of emptiness in front of the windows. So please please PLEASE, if you have any ideas, thoughts, links, suggestions, pinterest inspirations  I am all ears! Also while I'm sharing pics of the room, any suggestions on a paint color/colors? Now that it's starting to warm up (as I look out the window to snow blowing everywhere) and Weston is getting bigger I really have no excuse to keep procrastinating the whole "painting the house thing." So again, any suggestions would be very appreciated. We're pretty much stuck on black/gray comforters, but our blinds are a dark brown... so I don't even know if there is something you can do with that to make it all match or not. AND, check out the light fixture. You can kind of see it in the last pic. Rob HATES it. Like the first time we went through the house he said it was going to be the first thing to go. That being said, when anyone else goes in there the first thing they say is "that is such a cool light I love it!" So...he's tolerating it until we decide what to do. Kind of funny he bought blinds to match it right?! THOUGHTS?!?!

Oh Procrastination :P

Wow I did so good last year, and this year...not the best start. Ooops! :) And so much has happened I don't even know where to start! Well Weston is 6 months old now and weighing in at a whopping 18 lbs. Yep, that's in the 78 percentile for his age...big boy! He's already got his two bottom teeth, and honestly we didn't even notice the first one until he bit us :P The second one came in with a bit more vengeance, but still so far he has been a super good teether :).  He LOVES bananas, but there isn't any baby food that we've found so far that he doesn't like. He is still such a good kid, and there really isn't anything we can complain about!

Here are just some pics from the last few months to get all caught up :)

These first ones are from January when we went to Island Park with the fam for the weekend
Making breakfast :)

Thank you Secret Santa

This year we have had the amazing privilege of having a Secret Santa. I have never had a Secret Santa before, and on the first day I was really excited at the cute scarfs that Rob, Weston, and I got (yes, they made Weston a scarf! Holy CUTENESS!!!!) along with a few pieces to what I assumed would become a full nativity set. As the days have continued we have realized more and more just how much effort, thought, and time has gone into these cute little baskets that we get everyday. Every single day has a new theme, with a cute little card of sayings, quotes, or thoughts. Yesterday as we were talking about how much fun this has been, we've realized just how blessed we are, and it humbled us quite a bit. We definitely have the bad habit of using Christmas as an excuse to buy all the fun toys we don't feel justified in buying ordinarily,  we don't even waiting until Christmas to play with those toys, and then don't really get to feel the true Christmas spirit and love when Christmas does actually come around. As we realized all the effort that was going into these Secret Santa gifts every single day, it really made us remember the true meaning of Christmas. Yes, at first I was just excited to have a Secret Santa and excited to see what the new basket would have in it each day, (and I would be lying if I said I wasn't still excited for that, you have no idea how cute some of these gifts are) but now it has so much more meaning as we have realized not only what a blessing this has been for us, but also the sacrifice that it must be for the people doing it. It fills our hearts with love and gratefulness, and although I wish DESPERATELY that we knew who was doing it so that we could express this love to them personally, I am hoping that this blog (assuming they even read it) will at least let them know that we truly do appreciate it so much, and they have reminded us what the purpose of Christmas is, filling our home with the Christmas spirit more than it ever has been before. So in short, thank you Secret Santa. We love you so much and we hope that you have just as an amazing of a Christmas as you have given us :)
